Hi! My name is Lucy, I’m 25 years old and passionate about all things food. I’ve always loved cooking and inventing my own recipes, so Lucy Licks The Spoon is my way of sharing my ideas with the world.
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
– Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own
I believe the secret to health and happiness is all about balance. Anyone who knows me will agree that I seriously live to eat, not eat to live – meaning that my recipes are mostly healthy, occasionally devilishly unhealthy, but absolutely always delicious. I do not have time for tasteless calories (jog on, celery) or eating obscure ‘health foods’ just because a magazine tells me to do so (no thanks, seaweed). Life is simply too short to eat bad food.
“Eat better, not less”
As a general rule, I strive to keep sugar to a minimum, and eat a high protein, relatively low-carb diet, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, fibre and healthy fats. I’m a self-confessed baking addict, and firmly believe that the odd slice of cake here and there (or a giant burger and chips!) is essential to staying sane. I prefer not to call these ‘cheat meals’, as this implies guilt and negativity – I like to think of them more as motivational markers.
Aside from cooking and eating good food, I love keeping fit with HIIT, circuits, running, swimming and yoga (gotta earn that croissant somehow!). My family, boyfriend and friends are the most important things in the world to me, as well as my little wire-haired Dachshund, Tasca. I’m a Londoner, born and bred, and work in the London art scene, but have the travel bug in a big way, and always seem to be saving up for my next exciting adventure.
I’m very new to blogging, so please be patient with me. Feel free to leave comments or drop me a message – I’m always interested in hearing your thoughts. ❤
